Grave work accident at Ford Otosan: One of three injured workers in critical condition

A serious work accident occurred at the Ford Otosan Yeniköy Factory in Kocaeli, Turkey, injuring three workers, one critically. The incident happened when a vehicle being transferred to the test and parking area lost control and overturned during its movement from the assembly line. The injured workers, two of whom are women, received initial treatment at the factory before being transported to nearby hospitals. One of the critically injured women is reportedly in serious condition.

Arzu Erkan, the Provincial Chair of the Labor Party (EMEP), stated that the severely injured worker is 24 years old and receiving intensive care. Erkan noted that the worker has multiple fractures and is in critical condition, with the next 72 hours being crucial. She also criticized Ford Otosan for continuing production on other assembly lines immediately after the accident, with full production resuming later.

Erkan called for a thorough investigation into the accident's causes and demanded accountability for those responsible. She emphasized the need to examine the adequacy of workplace safety measures, especially given the severity of the injuries and the ongoing production.
