Green-Left Front backs student electoral list, but support is conditional

The Green-Left Front (ZLF) has announced its intention to back a student electoral list in the forthcoming elections, emphasizing that this support is not unconditional. ZLF co-president Radomir Lazovic stated that the party has specific expectations of the student movement it intends to endorse.

"We have expectations of the student movement," Lazovic told N1. "We expect it to remain true to the values it has upheld so far – to remain a broad-based platform that has not shifted to the right, which had been a concern for some." He further stressed the importance of unity, adding, "We also expect it to stay united, avoid internal divisions, and continue supporting Serbia's European integration."

Lazovic clarified that the ZLF's support comes with conditions and that the party reserves the right to publicly criticize positions it deems incorrect. He pointed to the movement's Memorandum on Kosovo and a speech by Jelena Pavlovic at a recent protest as instances where the ZLF might voice dissent.

Discussing broader opposition strategies, Lazovic mentioned that parties have considered forming a large pro-European electoral platform. However, he argued that such an initiative might not necessarily yield more votes than supporting the student-led bloc. "Of course we are making political calculations. We are weighing every option to determine the best way to defeat this government," he said, highlighting the perceived severity of the current political situation and the government's alleged abuses of power.
