Group hails Atiku’s emergence as ADC presidential candidate

The Atiku Abubakar Support Organisation (ASO) has congratulated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on his emergence as the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The organization hailed his victory as a clear reflection of Nigerians' trust in his leadership capabilities and extensive experience.

In a statement released by National Publicity Secretary Victor Moses, ASO described Abubakar's nomination as the dawn of a "journey of hope" for numerous Nigerians yearning for effective leadership and national revitalization. The group emphasized that the outcome of the ADC's direct presidential primary underscores the profound confidence party members and citizens nationwide place in Abubakar.

ASO highlighted Abubakar's possession of essential leadership qualities, broad national appeal, and the necessary experience to guide Nigeria toward economic recovery, foster national unity, and advance democratic progress. The organization also commended the ADC leadership for organizing a primary election that was peaceful, credible, and transparent across the federation, noting that the successful execution bolstered the party's democratic credentials and signaled its readiness to offer a viable alternative in the 2027 presidential race.

The support group also acknowledged the sportsmanship of other aspirants, including former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, for their contributions to the party's internal democratic process. Abubakar secured the ticket after defeating Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen in the contest, with the returning officer Tunde Ogbeha declaring him the winner after collating results from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
