Group stage concludes at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup

The group stage at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup has concluded in Berlin, with four teams moving directly into the quarterfinals.

Spain, France, Belgium and the United States topped their groups. Germany, Japan, Hungary, South Korea, Australia, Puerto Rico, China and Italy finished second or third and will contest the quarterfinal qualifiers.

Mali, Nigeria, Türkiye and the Czech Republic were eliminated. Türkiye’s women’s national team, known as the Potanın Perileri, exited after three defeats in the group stage.

The quarterfinal qualification games will take place on September 8 and 9. Hungary will play Japan and Germany will meet South Korea on September 8. Puerto Rico will face China, while Italy will play Australia, on September 9.

The final group-stage results were Japan 59-79 Spain and Germany 83-58 Mali in Group A; Hungary 82-73 South Korea and Nigeria 56-111 France in Group B; Belgium 80-68 Australia and Puerto Rico 75-71 Türkiye in Group C; and United States 105-64 Czech Republic and Italy 51-71 China in Group D.
