Grupo Aval analyzes regional development in energy, tourism, infrastructure, and education: 'We are betting on the Valle, on Cali and the west of the country'

Grupo Aval, a major Colombian financial conglomerate, expressed optimism about the Valle del Cauca region's economic prospects during its national tour, ADN Aval, held in Cali. Despite challenges stemming from the pandemic and social unrest, the region is showing positive economic indicators, according to bank presidents within the group.

Juan Carlos Echeverry, president of Banco de Bogotá, highlighted Grupo Aval's substantial presence in Valle del Cauca, employing 5,781 people across 138 offices and 417 ATMs. The group's involvement extends beyond finance into key development sectors. These include energy, through Gases de Occidente and Transoccidente, which supply natural gas to over 1.4 million users in 39 municipalities, with investments exceeding 245 billion pesos in the last 10 years. The group also supports community programs focused on capacity building, employment, productivity, and environmental care.

In tourism, Grupo Aval is represented by the Hotel Intercontinental Cali, a historic establishment with over five decades of service, 295 rooms, and 218 employees. The hotel remains a national reference point and a symbol of Cali. For infrastructure, Corficolombiana plays a significant role in the region's road development via PISA, managing 80 kilometers of roadways.

Furthermore, Grupo Aval is investing in education through Proindesa, which will structure an educational project in Riofrío using the 'Works for Taxes' mechanism. This multifaceted engagement underscores the group's commitment to the comprehensive development of Valle del Cauca and western Colombia.
