Grupo Elektra Pays Nearly 14 Billion Pesos Towards Tax Debt, Will Settle Remainder by 2027

Grupo Elektra, a prominent business group led by Ricardo Salinas Pliego, has significantly advanced its tax obligations, paying 13.979 billion pesos to Mexico's tax authority, the SAT. This substantial payment is part of a larger agreement to settle a total tax debt amounting to 32.132 billion pesos.

The payments are being made in accordance with the Federal Fiscal Code and applicable judicial resolutions. The Secretariat of Public Administration and Credit (SHCP) confirmed that a business group is in the process of paying the SAT the specified amount, with the final settlement scheduled for July 2027. This structured payment plan allows for the gradual liquidation of the debt over the coming period.

This recent payment represents a second installment, following an initial significant payment of 10.400 billion pesos made in January of the same year. The current payment amounts to an additional 3.579 billion pesos, bringing the total paid thus far to nearly 14 billion pesos. The agreement ensures that the remaining balance will be paid in partial installments, extending the settlement timeline to mid-2027.

The ongoing process underscores the commitment to resolving the tax debt through a structured and agreed-upon payment schedule. Grupo Elektra's compliance with the payment plan, as confirmed by the SHCP, marks a step towards the full resolution of this fiscal matter.
