Grupo Godó appoints Óscar Rodríguez to lead media division and Francesc Cano as RAC1 director

Grupo Godó has announced two changes to its executive structure, appointing Óscar Rodríguez to lead Godó Media and Francesc Cano as the new director of RAC1 and RAC105. Both appointments will take effect on October 1.

Rodríguez currently heads Godó Strategies, the group’s advertising sales division. He joined Grupo Godó in 1997 and has held several senior roles, including general director of the group’s distribution and printing operations, as well as general director of Mundo Deportivo and La Vanguardia.

He will replace Xavier de Pol, who led Godó Media for the past four years and has decided to pursue new business projects in the audiovisual sector.

Cano is a journalist and an established executive in Catalonia’s audiovisual industry. He has executive business management training from IESE and previously led news operations at Catalunya Ràdio. He currently runs the audiovisual production company La Manchester, where he has overseen the creation and production of current affairs and entertainment formats for television, radio and digital media.

Cano will replace Eulàlia Carbonell, who has been associated with the group since RAC1 and CityTV, later 8tv, began operating in 1999. Under Carbonell’s leadership, RAC1 consolidated its position as Catalonia’s leading radio station, exceeding one million daily listeners and setting record audience figures. During the most recent season, she also advanced the technological renewal of Grupo Godó’s stations, including the launch of new facilities inaugurated in March.
