Guabirá holds on for victory against Universitario

Guabirá began their Copa Bolivia campaign with a crucial 2-1 home victory against Universitario, making their home ground count in a match that saw both teams struggle with errors.

The home side took an early lead in the 7th minute through Pedro Cabral. The goal came after a defensive miscue by Universitario's Cuéllar and Gómez, allowing Cabral to intercept the ball, round the goalkeeper, and score into an open net.

However, Guabirá's defense faltered shortly after. An attempted pass back from Ricky Añez towards his own goal went awry, with the goalkeeper Ferrel out of position. This led to an own goal, leveling the score for Universitario.

In the second half, Guabirá regained the lead in the 52nd minute, again through Pedro Cabral. He capitalized on defensive errors from the visiting team to score his second goal of the match, which ultimately proved to be the game-winner.

Universitario had a golden opportunity to equalize late in the game when they were awarded a penalty. However, Daniel Camacho failed to convert the spot-kick, with goalkeeper Ferrel making the save, ensuring Guabirá held on for the three points.
