Guanajuato Hosts Fantasy Weddings for 50 Tourist Couples

Guanajuato's historic center was filled with romance and celebration this past Saturday as at least 50 couples of tourists exchanged vows in fantasy weddings held at the Jardín de la Unión. The "Soltero Festival" and "Destino Guanajuato Romance" events transformed the capital into a vibrant scene of love, with mariachi serenades and floral gifts adding to the atmosphere.

Participants ranged from couples who had been married for decades, like Concepción Alfaro and Jorge Pérez who renewed vows after 45 years, to younger pairs and even single individuals participating in the festivities. The ceremonies were officiated by a performer dressed as a harlequin, with local musicians providing a lively soundtrack. Couples received a symbolic marriage certificate, "Marry in Guanajuato Capital in the Name of Love and Complicity," as a memento of their special day.

David Santibáñez, who manages the event, explained that the civil association "Romance Guanajuato" organized the promotion to showcase the city's charm and encourage visitors to experience its romantic allure. The fantasy weddings offer a unique, cost-free opportunity for couples to celebrate their commitment in a fun and memorable way, while also highlighting Guanajuato as a destination for genuine marriages with special promotions available.

Despite a brief, refreshing rain shower in the afternoon, the festive spirit continued. The event not only celebrated love but also contributed to the local economy, with vendors selling rain gear and merchandise related to the Mexican national soccer team. The "Destino Guanajuato Romance" initiative successfully blended tourism promotion with a heartwarming celebration of relationships.
