Guatemala Cemetery Shooting Leaves One Dead, One Injured

A man died and a teenager was injured in a shooting at the La Verbena cemetery in Guatemala City's zone 7. The incident, which occurred on Friday, June 19, prompted a swift response from municipal firefighters.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to find two individuals with gunshot wounds. The younger victim, a 13-year-old boy, sustained a neck injury. He received pre-hospital care, was stabilized, and transported to the Hospital Roosevelt for specialized treatment.

The second victim, identified as 33-year-old Mario Rodolfo Solórzano Escobar, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the skull. Emergency responders confirmed he had no vital signs and had died at the scene.

Authorities have cordoned off the area to preserve potential evidence. The investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances and motives behind the armed attack. It is currently unknown if the victims were attending a burial or were merely visiting the cemetery.
