Guitarist Luis Orlandini receives Chile's National Music Arts Prize 2026

The Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage announced guitarist Luis Orlandini as the recipient of the National Music Arts Prize 2026 on Wednesday.

"Luis Orlandini has developed one of the most relevant careers in contemporary Chilean musical performance and has been a fundamental creator in consolidating the classical guitar in our country," stated Minister Francisco Undurraga.

Orlandini expressed his reaction to the award, saying he was "impacted, honored, and moved" by the recognition. He celebrated the award as an instance that highlights the quality of work produced in Chile, stating, "This has been an occasion where it has been possible to see what is done in Chile and how well it is done (...) That places us in a privileged position."

Beyond his notable teaching career, Luis Orlandini has collaborated with Eliot Fisk at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne, Germany. He is also recognized for co-founding the Dúo Orlandini & Luco, among other significant achievements.
