Union Home Minister Amit Shah has laid out an ambitious vision for Gujarat, calling for the state to ascend into the top three nationally for its service sector. Speaking at the launch of the Million Minds Tech Park in Ahmedabad, Shah articulated a clear directive: Gujarat, having already excelled in manufacturing, engineering, and green energy, must now pivot to become a leader in IT and high-skill services. This push aligns directly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's broader agenda to foster innovation and technology across India.

After achieving strong growth in manufacturing, engineering and green energy, Gujarat must now enter the top three states in the service sector and position Ahmedabad alongside leading technology hubs of the country.

The inauguration of the Million Minds Tech Park is a tangible step towards this goal. Shah highlighted that such projects are crucial for elevating Ahmedabad to the same league as established tech hubs like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Gurugram. The sheer scale of the project—a ₹1,100 crore investment in its initial phase, with plans for further expansion totaling ₹15,000 crore—underscores the commitment to creating world-class infrastructure and significant employment opportunities. The expectation of generating over 63,000 high-value jobs within five years signals a major economic uplift for the region.

Gujarat has performed exceptionally well across a wide spectrum of sectors: manufacturing, engineering, pharmaceuticals, ports, logistics, green energy, industrial infrastructure, and investment. The time has now come to elevate Gujarat to a position among the top three states in the service sector as well.

From Gujarat's perspective, this initiative represents more than just economic development; it's about solidifying the state's reputation as a powerhouse of industrial growth and entrepreneurship. The emphasis on structured policies, ease of doing business, and a pro-business environment, which have been hallmarks of Gujarat's success since 2002, are now being strategically applied to the burgeoning tech sector.
