Gunfire outside US consulate in Toronto marks second incident at building in four months

Police responded to a gunshot outside the U.S. consulate in downtown Toronto early Monday, finding evidence that a weapon had been fired. The incident, which occurred on University Avenue, resulted in no injuries, according to authorities. A white sedan was observed fleeing the scene, and police have sealed off the immediate area.

This shooting is the second incident at the U.S. consulate building in the past four months. On March 10, several shots were also fired at the same location. These events follow a pattern of gun violence in the Toronto area, including three separate shootings at synagogues earlier in the year.

In June, Toronto police stated that young individuals in the area were reportedly being paid to shoot at various targets. These targets included synagogues, Jewish schools, and the U.S. Consulate. The motive behind the recent consulate shooting remains under investigation.
