Gunmen attack public transport van in Callao; driver, conductor, passenger wounded

A violent shooting attack targeted a public transport van on its route in Callao, Peru, leaving the driver, conductor, and one passenger injured. The incident occurred at the intersection of Marco Polo Avenue and Alberto Secada Street when assailants in a black car opened fire on the "combi" serving the Plaza 2 de Mayo-La Punta route. Emergency services transported the three victims to the Daniel Alcides Carrión hospital, where they are currently under medical observation. Forensic experts at the scene recovered twelve shell casings, indicating a significant amount of gunfire during the assault. Initial investigations suggest the attack is connected to extortion rackets targeting transport companies and their drivers. Preliminary information indicates that the "combi" units on this route may have been paying protection money, known as "cupos," to a criminal organization identified as "Callao Unido."
