Gunmen kill 12 in South Africa mass shooting

Twelve people died in an informal settlement near Johannesburg after gunmen stormed the area late Tuesday night. Police reported that over 10 armed individuals arrived in the area and entered the settlement through both entrances, firing on residents at multiple locations before escaping.

Eight men and three women were pronounced dead at the scene, with one additional person succumbing to injuries in a hospital. The attack took place in Cleveland, a neighborhood roughly six kilometers east of Johannesburg's city center. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities have not yet made any arrests.
