Gustavo Dudamel to Conclude LA Philharmonic Tenure with 'Concierto para Venezuela' for Earthquake Relief

Gustavo Dudamel is set to bid farewell to his role as music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic this Sunday with a special "Concierto para Venezuela." This benefit event is organized to raise crucial funds for those affected by the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24.

Dudamel expressed his deep connection to his homeland, stating, "Venezuela will always be my home, and at every moment, my thoughts are with the families whose lives have been forever changed by this tragedy." The concert will take place at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles at 7:00 PM. The funds raised will be directed to Venezuela with the support of the United Nations Development Programme and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The renowned conductor will not be alone on stage, as he will be joined by a star-studded lineup of artists including Beck, Eduardo Betancourt, Meme del Real of Café Tacvba, Jorge Glem, and Natalia Lafourcade, along with Lasso, Moisés Torrealba, and Carlos Vives. The orchestra will also perform a piece from the recently released orchestral music album by Anthony Hopkins.

This concert marks the end of an impactful 17-year tenure for Dudamel as the music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, a period that saw significant artistic achievements and community engagement. His departure signifies the closing of a major chapter for both the conductor and the esteemed orchestra.
