Israeli police have uncovered a significant drug laboratory operating within an apartment in Haifa's Central Carmel neighborhood as part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking. Officers from the Tirat Carmel police station located the premises, which were allegedly used for drug production, and seized about seven kilograms of cannabis. Following the discovery, the commander of the Coastal Police, Assistant-Chief Yechiel Bohadana, issued an administrative closure order for the property. This operation is one of several recent efforts by Israeli law enforcement to combat illegal drug networks. Last week, a lengthy undercover investigation culminated in a large-scale operation by the Tel Aviv Central Unit, resulting in nine arrests and the confiscation of substantial amounts of cash and a substance suspected to be the synthetic drug "Doctor." Authorities have described the Haifa facility as one of the largest laboratories uncovered in recent years, an organized infrastructure that allegedly flooded the party scene with drugs. In the past month alone, five young people have died following drug use. However, at this stage, police have not confirmed a direct link between these deaths and the substances seized in the current operation. A police source indicated that "toxic drugs have been distributed across the country disguised as various substances," and that special forces are actively working to locate them. The investigation suggests the arrested suspects operated as a cohesive network, with some individuals manufacturing drugs in equipped labs and others managing distribution through criminal channels that supplied the local market with large quantities.
