Halton police seize historic $5M worth of meth and cocaine

Halton Regional Police have made a historic bust, seizing an estimated $5 million worth of cocaine and methamphetamine. The seizure is the culmination of "Project Jester," a months-long joint drug trafficking investigation targeting a network involved in importing and distributing illicit drugs across the Greater Toronto Area.

The investigation began in March with a traffic stop that led to the arrest of a 36-year-old Mississauga man and the discovery of a significant quantity of drugs. A subsequent traffic stop on May 7 in Brampton resulted in the arrest of a second individual.

Following the May 7 stop, police executed a search warrant at a commercial building in Brampton, which they allege was used for drug processing and packaging. During the search, officers discovered 20 kilograms of cocaine and 273 kilograms of methamphetamine. The methamphetamine seizure alone is reportedly the largest in Halton Regional Police Service history.

"This investigation and the arrests made represent a major step in disrupting large-scale drug trafficking operations," stated Deputy Chief Jen Davis of the Waterloo Regional Police Service. The two individuals arrested face multiple charges, including trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking. Both are currently in custody pending bail hearings.

Investigators are appealing to the public for any additional information related to the case. The successful disruption of this network marks a significant achievement for law enforcement in combating large-scale drug operations in the region.
