Hamas distributing personal weapons to operatives to avoid total disarmament amid BoP deal - report

Hamas has begun distributing individual rifles to its operatives in the Gaza Strip, presenting them as personal firearms, even as a disarmament deal known as the Board of Peace (BoP) is being negotiated. This move aims to ensure weapons remain within Hamas hands under the guise of private ownership, according to Kan News, citing a Palestinian source.

"Hamas will not disarm. Period," the Palestinian source asserted, directly challenging the BoP's assertion that the organization is committed to the agreement. Despite Hamas officials' public statements, the BoP maintains that the terror group has confirmed its participation in the deal to other Middle Eastern countries and the U.S.

The BoP deal, championed by U.S. President Donald Trump, requires Hamas disarmament and the withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from Gaza. The International Stabilization Force (ISF) would then begin reconstruction in cooperation with new civil forces. However, Israel has stated that Hamas's disarmament is a non-negotiable precondition for the IDF's withdrawal.

Under the 15-point plan, Hamas is expected to halt all military activity within a two-week window, after which disarmament can commence. Concurrently, Israel must adhere to ceasefire guidelines agreed upon in October 2025. Israel has expressed criticism regarding the finer details of the agreement, particularly the phased rollout announced by President Trump.
