Han Dong-hoon to seek disclosure on travel ban reasons after it expires

Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon announced on June 14 that he will pursue a request for information disclosure concerning the reasons behind his travel ban. Han stated on Facebook that the Democratic Party's special prosecution team and the Ministry of Justice have not adequately explained the grounds for his prolonged travel restriction.

"I will file for information disclosure with the Ministry of Justice and the special prosecutor's office, pursuant to Article 10 of the Act on Disclosure of Public Information, to ascertain the exact reasons why I was subjected to a lengthy travel ban just before the election," Han wrote. The travel ban was initially imposed by the second special prosecutor's team on April 13, citing an ongoing investigation, while Han was preparing to run in a by-election for Busan's Buk-gu갑 constituency. The ban was extended twice before expiring on June 13 at midnight, as the special prosecutor did not seek further extension.

Previously, a civic group filed a complaint against former President Yoon Suk-yeol, Han, former Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok, and several prosecutors involved in the investigation. They are accused of abuse of power and instigating perjury related to the alleged manipulation of the 'Simbangul North Korea remittance' case, suggesting undue influence was exerted on the investigation involving President Lee Jae-myung.
