Han Kuo-yu's US trip: Drone talks in Washington, amnesia at home?

Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu returned to Taiwan after a US visit, declaring all four objectives achieved and highlighting strong US congressional support for Taiwan. However, political commentator Wu Ching-yi immediately criticized Han's post-visit statements on Facebook, questioning his omission of drone discussions.

Wu argued that while discussions on congressional diplomacy, Taiwan-US relations, TSMC, and double taxation are valid, the "unmanned vehicle special regulation" currently stalled in the Legislative Yuan should have been a priority. She accused Han of "political amnesia" for discussing drones in Washington but avoiding the topic upon returning to Taiwan.

The commentator further challenged the KMT and TPP, asking why they obstruct defense legislation if they truly support national defense. She suggested that blocking the government's drone initiatives and the "pro-China alliance" are actively working to undermine Han's efforts and his potential political aspirations.

Wu emphasized that the US extended significant respect to Han as Taiwan's Legislative Speaker, valuing Taiwan's congressional commitment to defense over partisan politics. She warned that continued obstruction by the KMT and TPP not only discredits Taiwan but also jeopardizes Han's "pro-US path" and his ambitions for higher office.

Han's true test, Wu concluded, begins now. After receiving the "exam paper" in the US, the KMT and TPP's actions will determine if he passes. She specifically pointed to Legislator Cheng Li-wen as having the capacity to make Han fail.
