Hannover's Südschnellweg to close this weekend for construction

The Südschnellweg in Hannover is set for a weekend closure, impacting traffic from Friday evening to Monday morning. The entire section between Landwehrkreisel and Kreuz Seelhorst will be inaccessible as authorities prepare for significant structural modifications beneath railway bridges.

This closure, scheduled from Friday at 8:00 PM until Monday at 5:00 AM, is necessary for preparatory work that includes altering traffic flow and dismantling safety barriers. These measures will allow for extensive renovation work along the 3.8-kilometer stretch, marking the project's maximum operational scope.

Authorities have established detours for drivers in both directions. Traffic will be rerouted from Landwehrkreisel via federal highways B3 and B443 towards Laatzen. From there, drivers can use the Messeschnellweg (B6) to reach Seelhorster Kreuz and vice versa. Officials noted that unforeseen issues could extend the closure period, as occurred in April 2024 when unexpected road damage required additional repairs.
