Hanwoo farmers embrace digital future at productivity symposium

The Hanwoo Promotion Committee, in collaboration with the 'Hanwoo Industry Sharing' online community, successfully concluded its "Symposium on Digital Information Utilization and Productivity Improvement for Hanwoo Farmers" on July 2. Held at the Hongik University International Training Institute in Sejong City, the event drew significant attention for its focus on leveraging digital tools to enhance the Hanwoo (Korean beef) industry.

The symposium, themed 'Data-Based Profit-Oriented Hanwoo Breeding Technology and Management Strategies,' aimed to share the latest technologies and practical management approaches for improving Hanwoo productivity and strengthening the industry's competitiveness. A key highlight was the first public unveiling of the Hanwoo Promotion Committee's newly developed 'Hanwoo Digital Information System.' Attendees showed keen interest in the system's features, including a dedicated Hanwoo chatbot and real-time data inquiry functions, which offer practical digital solutions for farmers.

This symposium will serve as a meaningful opportunity for Hanwoo farmers to establish a data-based scientific breeding management system in the era of digital transformation.

Expert presentations delved into data-driven feeding management and productivity enhancement. Dr. Kim Hyun-jin from Seoul National University presented specific data on the effects of free-choice feeding methods on shipping performance, scientifically explaining how changes in feed delivery impact productivity and farm profitability. Practical case studies were also shared by successful farmers, including Han Jong-min, CEO of Janghan Farm in Hampyeong, who discussed his farm's operational know-how for improving carcass quality, and Kwon Young-tae, CEO of Daehwang Livestock in Gokseong, who focused on calf production management and improving survival rates.

Min Kyung-cheon, chairman of the Hanwoo Promotion Committee, emphasized the symposium's significance in guiding Hanwoo farmers toward establishing data-based, scientific breeding management systems in the digital era. He expressed gratitude for the participants' engagement and pledged continued support through digital information utilization training and resources to enhance farmers' actual income and promote the production of high-quality Hanwoo.
