Harry Kane named Germany's Player of the Year

Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane has been honored as Germany's 2026 player of the year, awarded by an association of sports journalists. The England captain secured the prestigious title, finishing ahead of his teammate Michael Olise.

Kane's accolade follows a remarkable season where he netted 61 goals for Bayern Munich in all competitions. He was instrumental in the club's success, helping them win the Bundesliga and the German Cup, while also reaching the Champions League semi-finals. Internationally, Kane scored six goals for England as they advanced to the World Cup semi-finals.

Bayern Munich's success was further recognized with manager Vincent Kompany being named coach of the year. Additionally, the club's women's captain, Giulia Gwinn, received the award for best female player, highlighting a dominant year for the Bavarian club.

The award, voted on by 695 members of the German sports journalists association, is open to Bundesliga players and German footballers playing abroad. Kane is the first Englishman to win this award, and he is also considered a favorite for the upcoming Ballon d'Or.
