Haydarlı Mayor Attacked with Knife; Son Injured

Süleyman Çetinkaya, the mayor of Haydarlı, a town in Dinar, was the target of a knife attack as he was entering his home on July 5. The mayor fortunately escaped the assault without injury. However, his son, Yusuf Çetinkaya, sustained injuries during the altercation that followed the attack.

The assailant, whose identity has been established, was apprehended by gendarmerie forces. An investigation into the incident has been initiated. The ruling AKP party's provincial headquarters issued a statement condemning the attack as "heinous" and "unacceptable," emphasizing that such acts are directed not only at individuals but also at the will of the people and democratic life.

The AKP statement expressed relief over the mayor's well-being and wished his son a swift recovery. The party reiterated its stance against violence and threats, asserting that those responsible will face justice. The incident has prompted an official investigation, with authorities committed to uncovering all aspects of the event and ensuring perpetrators are held accountable.
