Hayles' Free Kick Lifts Reggae Girlz to 1-0 Victory Over Panama

Jamaica's Reggae Girlz secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Panama in the first of two friendly international matches held at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City. The win extended Shania Hayles' impressive scoring streak for the national team.

Hayles netted the decisive goal in the 25th minute, curling a free kick from approximately 22 yards into the far-left corner of the net, past Panamanian goalkeeper Yenith Bailey. This strike marked her fourth goal in national colors and third of the current calendar year, underscoring her importance to the team's attack.

The Jamaican side controlled much of the first half, creating several scoring opportunities. Kayla McKenna narrowly missed the target in the eighth minute, and Jody Brown came close to doubling the lead in the 50th minute when her shot struck the left upright. Kameron Simmonds also had a shot saved by Bailey shortly after.

Panama attempted to rally in the second half, and had a golden opportunity to equalize in the 87th minute. However, a brilliant full-stretch save by Jamaican goalkeeper Liya Brooks denied Katherine Castillo's header, preserving Jamaica's clean sheet and securing the win.
