HDZ responds to opposition on inflation, Thompson concert

The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in Vukovar and Vukovar-Srijem County has responded to criticism from opposition parties SDP and Možemo! regarding inflation and an upcoming concert by singer Marko Perković Thompson.

HDZ officials, including Goran Bendra, president of the Vukovar HDZ, and Ivan Bosančić, president of the Vukovar-Srijem County HDZ, held a press conference to counter the opposition's claims. Bendra dismissed the opposition's concerns about Thompson's concert, noting that the singer has performed in Vukovar three times before without any incidents. He questioned the motives behind portraying attendees as violent and suggested it was an attempt to gain "cheap political points."

Bosančić emphasized that the HDZ focuses on results, pointing to significant projects underway in the county, such as a fast road connecting Vukovar and Vinkovci, a bypass around Vukovar, and substantial investments in education, including 22-23 schools, and facilities for the elderly. He contrasted these tangible developments with what he described as the opposition's "performances and entertainment."

Both HDZ officials also addressed the opposition's critique of the government's anti-inflation measures, which they deemed "belated PR" and aimed at deficit reduction. The HDZ leaders asserted that their party's actions and investments demonstrate a commitment to the region's development, contrasting their approach with what they characterized as the opposition's missed opportunities and focus on "traveling circuses."
