'He was incinerated': Bolivian police investigate Brazilian-Bolivian network for sub-lieutenant's murder

The body of Bolivian sub-lieutenant Yerson Salazar Aliendres, killed in an armed ambush in San Matías, was found burned and calcined, according to Bolivian Police's Deputy Commander General Juan Peña Rojas. He attributed this brutal act to the criminal organization responsible for the attack.

Peña Rojas stated that a police contingent, supported by the special unit 'Los Diablos Rojos,' traveled to San Matías to recover Salazar's remains. The sub-lieutenant's body was transported by helicopter to Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Authorities are investigating a criminal network believed to consist of both Brazilian and Bolivian nationals involved in the ambush.

Police operations are currently underway in San Matías to apprehend the alleged ringleader, identified as 'El Grillo,' along with other probable perpetrators. "We have knowledge that they are Brazilians, but also that there would be Bolivian individuals linked to this crime," Peña informed, emphasizing the highly trained personnel conducting the operations.

Sub-lieutenant Salazar's remains were taken to the morgue in Santa Cruz for a medico-legal autopsy to determine the exact cause and time of death. Following identification by his family, his body will be handed over for a wake. The Bolivian Police plan to hold an institutional tribute at the Departmental Command in Santa Cruz, including a mass and posthumous promotion, honoring Salazar as a hero who sacrificed his life to fulfill his constitutional duty of protecting society from criminal organizations.
