Headless body found on University of Jos farmland

Panic has gripped the University of Jos (UNIJOS) community following the discovery of a headless body on a farmland within the institution's grounds. The victim, described as a middle-aged man, was found on Tuesday morning.

The body was found this morning on a farm around the university community. From what we gathered, the victim was neither a student nor a member of the university.

According to a 300-level student, Pius Atok, who spoke to Vanguard newspaper, the body was found on a farm near the university. Preliminary information suggests the deceased was a local farmer who regularly cultivated the land and was neither a student nor a staff member of the university.

A senior university official, speaking anonymously, indicated that the attack appeared targeted. "What actually happened is still unclear, but from the nature of the attack, it appears those responsible came specifically to kill him and made away with his head," the official stated. The university management is aware of the incident, and arrangements are being made to evacuate the body after contacting the victim's relatives.

The victim is neither a student nor a staff member of the university. He is known to people around the area because he usually comes there to farm. We believe he came very early this morning, as he normally does.

The discovery occurs amid heightened security concerns in Plateau State. This incident follows a series of violent attacks in the region, including an attempted attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and a deadly assault on communities in Riyom Local Government Area where nine family members were killed. Efforts to reach the police command spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful.
