Health of Man Injured in Panama Mayor's Office Altercation Remains Critical, Family Says

Alberto Llerena, who was injured during an altercation at the Panama City Mayor's Office, remains in critical condition, according to his daughter, Yaritza Llerena. The incident occurred on Monday and stemmed from a dispute over seniority premium payments.

His daughter informed TVN Noticias that Llerena is hospitalized at Santo Tomás Hospital, where he underwent surgery for a cerebral hemorrhage. He is currently under strict medical observation and requires sedation. "My dad is not doing well, he is very delicate. Right now he is still agitated; we have to keep him sedated," Yaritza Llerena stated.

Medical professionals are continuing to conduct various tests to monitor Llerena's condition and evaluate his progress. The family has filed a formal complaint for personal injury. However, Llerena's lawyer indicated that they intend to seek a reclassification of the incident to attempted homicide, citing the critical nature of his injuries and his ongoing fragile state.
