Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Four Taiwan Counties

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration has issued a heavy rain advisory for four southern counties, warning of potential localized downpours and intense short-term rainfall. The advisory, issued early Wednesday morning, affects Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County.

The agency cited the influence of the southwest monsoon as the cause for the expected heavy rainfall. Residents in the affected areas are urged to be aware of potential hazards, including lightning strikes and strong wind gusts.

Authorities are also cautioning about the risks associated with continuous rainfall. Mountainous regions should be prepared for potential landslides, falling rocks, and sudden rises in river levels. Low-lying areas are at risk of flooding.

The advisory emphasizes the need for vigilance as the weather system is expected to bring significant precipitation to the southern part of the island.
