Heavy rain floods Lahore, disrupts traffic and daily life in low-lying areas and underpasses

Lahore experienced significant disruption on Saturday as heavy rainfall flooded low-lying areas, major roads, and several underpasses. The downpour made movement challenging for pedestrians and motorists across the city.

According to the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), Lahore received an average of 24.6mm of rain. However, rainfall varied significantly across different parts of the city. The airport recorded the highest amount with 104mm, followed by Kahna at 75.6mm and Hadiara Defence Road at 62.6mm. Other areas like Tajpura, Mughalpura, Shadipura, and Nishter Town also reported substantial rainfall, contributing to the widespread waterlogging.

The accumulation of rainwater on roads and in residential areas created difficult conditions, forcing commuters to navigate waterlogged streets. The situation highlighted the vulnerability of the city's infrastructure to heavy monsoon showers, impacting the daily routines of residents.
