Heavy rain likely in parts of hilly areas, strong winds possible in Tarai-Madhesh

Nepal is bracing for significant weather changes as the Meteorological Forecasting Division predicts heavy rainfall in various hilly regions on Tuesday. The Tarai and Madhesh areas could also experience strong winds, according to the forecast.

The country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds. The monsoon low-pressure line is situated near Nepal, slightly north of its average position in the west and around its average position in the east. This atmospheric setup is expected to bring generally cloudy conditions across the country throughout Tuesday afternoon.

Specific forecasts indicate that some areas in the Himalayan region might receive moderate rain and snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning. Similarly, most of the hilly regions and certain parts of the Tarai are anticipated to receive moderate rainfall, also with thunder and lightning.

The division further warned that heavy rainfall is likely in one or two places within the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Strong winds are also a possibility in parts of the Tarai within Koshi and Madhesh provinces. At night, the forecast suggests rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning in some Himalayan and hilly regions, as well as moderate rainfall in parts of the Tarai and Madhesh provinces.
