Heavy Rain Warning Issued for Pingtung as Heatwave Grips Taiwan

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration has issued a heavy rain advisory for Pingtung County, forecasting intense, short-duration downpours due to developing convective clouds. The agency warned of potential lightning strikes, strong gusts of wind, and localized flooding in low-lying areas.

In addition to the heavy rain threat, much of Taiwan is bracing for high temperatures on Sunday. The eastern county of Taitung faces a risk of "fenn wind," a hot, dry wind that can significantly raise temperatures. Several other areas, including Changhua, Yunlin, Tainan, Hualien, and Taitung counties, are under a "yellow light" warning, indicating a probability of daytime temperatures reaching or exceeding 36 degrees Celsius.

Residents in affected regions are urged to take necessary precautions. This includes staying hydrated and protecting themselves from the sun to mitigate the risks associated with the extreme heat. The advisories highlight the dynamic and potentially hazardous weather conditions expected across parts of Taiwan.
