Heavy Rains Cause Fatal Accident in Chihuahua; One Dead as Car Swept Away

Heavy rains have caused a fatality in Chihuahua, Mexico, after a vehicle was swept away by a fast-moving stream. The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of 15 de enero and Liberación streets in Chihuahua capital.

State authorities confirmed the death of the vehicle's occupant. Emergency services, including state Civil Protection and firefighters, have also responded to a report of water entering a home in the Lealtad II neighborhood. The State Civil Protection Coordination (CEPC) issued a warning to residents, urging them to avoid crossing streams or flooded areas due to the dangerous force of the water.

The National Meteorological Service forecasts that precipitation will continue across large parts of Chihuahua, particularly in the central and southern regions. The southwest and south are expected to receive between 50.1 and 75 millimeters of rain, with the Morelos municipality being particularly affected. Other areas, including the Sierra Madre Occidental and central-south regions, could see 25.1 to 50 millimeters of rain.

Scattered showers are also predicted for northwestern, western, central, and northeastern municipalities. Light rainfall, between 0.1 and 2 millimeters, is expected in northern areas. These conditions may be accompanied by strong wind gusts, lightning, and potentially hail.
