Heavy rains cause power outages, damage in Venezuela's Altos Mirandinos

A powerful storm brought down power lines and caused significant damage across Venezuela's Altos Mirandinos region on Sunday night. Thousands of homes lost electricity as trees and branches fell, with one tree crashing onto a house in the Potrerito sector of Los Salias municipality.

More than a dozen communities, including Pacheco, Polonias Viejas, Rosaleda Sur, and El Amarillo, were left without power. The storm also caused flooding on the Pan-American Highway and the Regional del Centro Highway, complicating nighttime travel. Emergency services, including Civil Protection, were deployed to manage the widespread issues.

In Los Teques, residents reported sudden and prolonged power cuts in both the city center and surrounding areas. The meteorological forecast for Monday indicated that these conditions were due to tropical wave number 34 crossing Venezuelan territory. While some areas might see more stable weather, isolated showers are still expected in parts of the country.
