Heavy rains, wind, and thunderstorms to affect northern Chile again

Northern Chile is bracing for a significant weather event on Sunday, with forecasters predicting heavy rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms. The Directorate of Meteorology of Chile (DMC) issued a warning for the southern part of the Atacama Region and the northern area of the Coquimbo Region.

According to Elio Brufort of the DMC, the approaching frontal system is expected to bring substantial precipitation. Accompanying the rain will be winds gusting up to 60 kilometers per hour, creating potentially hazardous conditions. The DMC also alerted residents to the likelihood of electrical storms, adding another layer of concern for the affected areas.

The forecast indicates that the impact will be concentrated in specific regions, highlighting the southern reaches of Atacama and the northern expanse of Coquimbo. Residents in these zones are advised to prepare for the adverse weather and stay informed about any updates from meteorological authorities.
