Hermès Kaohsiung Hanshin Store Sets Sail with Harbor-Inspired Design and Exclusive Timepiece

Hermès has unveiled its newly expanded and redesigned flagship store in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, marking its largest presence in southern Taiwan. The two-story boutique, located at the Hanshin Department Store, was designed by the renowned Paris architectural firm RDAI. It seamlessly blends Hermès' signature craftsmanship with the unique aesthetic of Kaohsiung's harbor.

The new store perfectly blends Hermès' classic craftsmanship with Kaohsiung's harbor scenery, injecting a unique charm of intersecting light and materials.

The design draws inspiration from the city's coastal environment, incorporating colors like ocean blue and sunset orange, alongside textured brickwork that mimics the play of light on the water. The oak staircase connecting the floors is inspired by the shipping containers commonly seen in Kaohsiung's port. Even the carpets on the lower level transition from deep blue to sunset orange, subtly illustrating the changing light from day to dusk over the harbor.

Kaohsiung's golden sunshine, azure waters, and the brown tones weathered by sea breezes, together with Hermès' representative orange, form the main color palette of the new specialty store.

While celebrating local influences, the store retains iconic Hermès elements such as the Faubourg mosaic floor tiles and the ex-libris motif. Different collections are housed in distinct color-themed areas: silk scarves and fashion jewelry in warm rust tones, leather goods highlighted by sculpted wooden walls, and jewelry and watch collections within subtly textured walls. The fragrance section is accented with bright colors, adding a vibrant touch.

To commemorate the opening, the Kaohsiung Hanshin store is exclusively showcasing several pieces from the Horizon special order department, including playful gaming-themed items like a foosball table and a vinyl record player. It also features limited-edition custom series items such as a golf collection. A standout is the limited-edition ARCEAU HERMÈS FLAGSHIP watch, a unique piece that transforms the iconic Hermès Faubourg Saint-Honoré store into a colorful, imaginative ship, merging traditional craftsmanship with modern art and poetic vision. This watch is one of only six available in Taiwan.
