Hermosillo to host over 1,000 cyclists in L’Étape by Tour de France competition on October 18

Hermosillo, Sonora, is gearing up to host the inaugural L'Étape Hermosillo by Tour de France on October 18, an event expected to draw more than a thousand cyclists from Mexico and abroad. This marks the first time the city will stage the prestigious competition, which will feature participants cycling through its main avenues.

I emphasize that these are family events, that they are safe events for those who will accompany us, and that they are obviously events that allow us to showcase internationally the richness we have in Hermosillo, which is its people, its gastronomy, the beauty, the landscapes we have in our city, and I am sure that on October 18 we will be able to enjoy this.

Mayor Antonio Astiazarán Gutiérrez announced the event, emphasizing its family-friendly and secure nature. He believes the competition will significantly boost Hermosillo's international profile by showcasing its people, cuisine, and scenic beauty. "I am sure that on October 18, we will be able to enjoy this," Astiazarán stated.

The L'Étape Hermosillo by Tour de France coincides with the 10th anniversary of L'Étape in Mexico. Participants can choose from three routes: a long route of 120 kilometers, a short route of 67 kilometers, and a sprint route of 30 kilometers. The race will commence at Parque Madero, traversing well-known streets and boulevards, including Aquiles Serdán, bulevar Hidalgo, calle Reforma, and bulevar Luis Donaldo Colosio.

Ramón Neme Sastre, President of the Alive Entertainment Council, expressed his enthusiasm, noting that the event is designed for amateur cyclists aged 18 and older, with categories extending to 61 years and above. He highlighted the event's commitment to the standards of the Tour de France. Neme Sastre also mentioned a special sponsorship for transportation for the Seri community, calling Hermosillo "perhaps the most important capital in this country."
