Hidden Treasure Restores Hope for Disabled Cobbler With Wheelchair Donation

Hidden Treasure, a community-based organization, has provided a significant boost to Eric Mungujabero, a 33-year-old disabled cobbler in Nebbi Municipality, by donating a wheelchair valued at Shs850,000. This act of generosity aims to enhance his mobility and enable him to continue earning a living through his cobbling business.

Before this wheelchair, I faced a serious challenge with movement. I used to hire wheelchairs from fellow disabled persons whenever I wanted to go far.

Mungujabero, a resident of Oryang Cell, expressed his gratitude, sharing that before the donation, he often had to rely on hiring wheelchairs from fellow persons with disabilities for longer journeys. He described the wheelchair as an unexpected blessing, naming it "God Is Great" as a testament to his thankfulness for the kindness shown by well-wishers. "I have named this 'God Is Great' because all this has come as a miracle through the kindness of people of goodwill," he said.

Derrick Avua, one of the individuals who helped mobilize funds for the wheelchair, emphasized that Mungujabero's situation highlighted a broader need. He stated that this support should serve as a case study for many others living with disabilities who face similar obstacles. Saviour Mark-Kristo, head of Hidden Treasure's business forum, added that the donation was prompted by witnessing Mungujabero's difficult circumstances, including crawling on wet ground. Hidden Treasure also offers skills training in areas like poultry and piggery to vulnerable individuals, aiming to create sustainable employment opportunities.
