HKFP Seeks Executive Editor to Lead Independent Newsroom

Hong Kong Free Press (HKFP) stands as a vital, independent voice in the city's media landscape, and we are currently seeking a dynamic Executive Editor to steer our daily operations. As the city's sole independent English-language news outlet, our tight-knit team is dedicated to providing credible, impartial reporting on Hong Kong's complex political and social developments.

This pivotal role involves overseeing the entire news cycle, from editing and fact-checking four to five hard news stories daily to scheduling and promoting them across our platforms. The Executive Editor will also play a key part in managing the newsroom, supporting the Features Editor, planning future coverage, and ensuring deadlines are met. Navigating the unique legal risks and political sensitivities inherent in Hong Kong reporting will be a core responsibility, undertaken in close collaboration with the Director.

Our journalists have a unique opportunity to contribute to the first draft of history in a city undergoing constant transformation. We are looking for candidates with at least two years of experience in a daily news editorial role, preferably with a background in Hong Kong affairs. Familiarity with the city's political landscape, governmental systems, and legal frameworks is essential.
