HNS on illegal waste in Lika: 'Lika will be clean again, just like Varaždin'

The Croatian People's Party (HNS) has strongly condemned the illegal dumping of approximately 37,000 tons of waste in Lika, vowing to restore the region's cleanliness. HNS President Krunoslav Lukačić stated that the party fully supports judicial authorities in resolving the case and is confident that those responsible will face severe penalties for the environmental damage. He drew a parallel to the successfully resolved waste issue in Varaždin, assuring that Lika will also be cleaned. Lukačić emphasized that the remediation process, while urgent, will require time and resources, noting it cannot happen overnight or cheaply, as demonstrated by the challenges faced with waste in Varaždin. He assured citizens that the water supply is not endangered. Lukačić also criticized the opposition, accusing them of exploiting the situation for political gain and irresponsibly alarming the public. He highlighted the country's strong tourism season, progress on veterans' status, and stable approval ratings as indicators of positive national momentum, contrasting it with what he described as the opposition's lack of creative political ideas.
