Ho Chi Minh City Approves $1.2 Billion Gò Công Interchange Project

Ho Chi Minh City is set to construct the Gò Công interchange and a connecting route from Hanoi Highway to Ring Road 3, a massive infrastructure project with an estimated cost of over 12.440 trillion VND (approximately $500 million USD).

The project, which will traverse the Tăng Nhơn Phú, Long Bình, and Long Phước wards, aims to significantly boost connectivity between the city's Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 2. Officials anticipate this will enhance the overall efficiency of these vital transportation arteries.

The interchange itself is designed as a four-level, multi-tiered intersection with a central roundabout. It will include several ramp connections, each with two lanes. Future phases may incorporate an underpass to connect the Hanoi Highway route to Long Phước and the Đồng Nai 2 bridge.

Construction is slated to begin in 2025 and conclude by 2029. The project will require the acquisition of approximately 83.5 hectares of land, impacting around 450 households. A significant portion of the budget, roughly 7.111 trillion VND, is allocated for compensation, support, and resettlement of affected residents.

This development is considered a crucial step in completing the connection from Hanoi Highway to Ring Road 3, expected to alleviate traffic congestion in the Nguyễn Xiển area, the Gò Công interchange vicinity, and surrounding routes.
