Ho Chi Minh City Chairman inspects key infrastructure projects

Ho Chi Minh City Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc conducted an on-site inspection of two significant transportation infrastructure projects on August 19: the East-West Highway extension, also known as Vo Van Kiet Street extended, and the upgrade and expansion of National Highway 1.

The inspection of important transportation works is to promptly direct and remove difficulties in public investment and canal-side projects. These are meaningful and humane projects.

The chairman led a delegation to review the progress of these critical projects, which are vital for the city's development. The inspection also included discussions and directives on other transportation initiatives, such as National Highway 13, the Tan Van intersection, and projects involving the improvement of canalside housing.

Chairman Duoc emphasized the importance of timely directives and solutions for public investment projects and canal-side developments. He commended the dedication of various departments, local communes, and wards involved in the projects, particularly highlighting the efforts of residents and organizations who have voluntarily handed over land for the greater public good. This positive reinforcement aims to foster a wider acceptance and cooperation in future land clearance efforts.

Regarding the National Highway 1 expansion, the project aims to widen the road to 10-12 lanes over approximately 9.62 km, with an estimated investment of 16.285 trillion VND. The project is divided into three components, focusing on compensation, support, and resettlement in affected districts. While progress has been made in land clearance, with many households receiving compensation and handing over land, the project is ongoing. The Ban Giao Thong (Traffic Management) Department reported that a consortium involving Cong ty co phan Tong cong ty dau tu xay dung 194 and Cong ty co phan dau tu xay dung va ky thuat VNCN E&C has expressed interest in the third component, which involves the upgrade and expansion of National Highway 1 with an investment of approximately 6.674 trillion VND under a BOT contract.
