Ho Chi Minh City Council to Review Major Transport and Canal Projects

Ho Chi Minh City's People's Council is set to review a substantial agenda at its fourth session on August 27, focusing on both policy reforms and critical infrastructure development. The meeting will consider 41 draft resolutions, encompassing legal regulations and individual administrative decisions.

Among the proposed legal resolutions are measures to enhance the city's healthcare sector, including special support for training resident doctors. Citizens' daily lives are also addressed through proposals on monthly allowances for community-based family planning and domestic violence prevention workers, as well as revised entrance fees for historical sites and museums.

Further policy discussions will cover remuneration for staff at the International Financial Center, support for fishing vessel conversions and decommissioning, and the installation and maintenance of vessel tracking devices. Environmental protection and funding for science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation initiatives will also be on the table.

In terms of individual resolutions, the council will examine proposals for establishing new wards from existing communes and consider the formation of a Ho Chi Minh City Land Development Fund through the merger of existing provincial funds. Significant infrastructure projects are also slated for review, including adjustments to the Phu My 2 Bridge public-private partnership project, improvements to the Thu Duc canal, expansion of Nguyen Thi Tu street, and the construction of the Vo Van Kiet Road extension. Additionally, plans for renovating the Ong Lon canal area and sections of Hang Bang canal are on the agenda, alongside land acquisition lists for economic development projects.
