Ho Chi Minh City police bust major counterfeit shoe factory, seize 23,000 pairs

Ho Chi Minh City police have dismantled a major ring producing and selling counterfeit shoes from famous global brands. The operation, led by the Economic, Corruption, and Smuggling Investigation Police (PC03), resulted in the arrest of five suspects, including the alleged masterminds, a couple identified as Dang Phuoc Dat and Vu Thi Thu Thuy.

Authorities seized more than 23,000 pairs of fake shoes, mimicking brands like Nike, Adidas, Crocs, and Gucci. The estimated value of the seized counterfeit goods exceeds 2 billion Vietnamese dong (approximately $78,000 USD). The raid also uncovered a significant quantity of accessories, labels, and machinery used in the production process.

Investigators revealed that Dat and Thuy had been operating the counterfeit factory since June 2025, employing 14 workers across various production stages. The network is accused of flooding the market with fake products, generating illicit profits estimated in the tens of billions of Vietnamese dong. The five individuals have been charged with "Infringement of Industrial Property Rights."

Police are continuing their investigation to identify suppliers of raw materials and the distribution network for the counterfeit goods, aiming for a comprehensive resolution of the case.
