Honda Bets on Affordability with New Super-One EV for UK Market

Honda is shifting its electric vehicle strategy in Europe, moving away from expensive, high-tech models like the Honda e and the unreleased Series 0 EVs. Instead, the Japanese automaker is introducing the Super-One, a significantly more affordable electric city car, to the UK market in July. This move signals a pragmatic approach, aiming to capture a segment of the market previously dominated by budget-friendly options like the Dacia Spring and Leapmotor T03. The Super-One is based on Honda's Japanese N-One model, a 'kei car' known for its compact dimensions and efficient design. This category, originating in Japan, features strict limits on size and engine displacement, offering tax and insurance benefits. By adapting a kei car for the European market, Honda seeks to offer a practical and accessible EV solution, potentially influencing future European micro-car regulations.
