Honda CBR500R and NX500 2026 Arrive in Mexico with E-Clutch Technology

Honda de México has introduced two significant mid-displacement motorcycles to the Mexican market: the 2026 CBR500R and the 2026 NX500. While sharing the same mechanical platform, these bikes cater to distinct rider preferences. The CBR500R is geared towards sporty road performance, whereas the NX500 offers a blend of daily usability and adventure touring potential.

The standout innovation across both models is the integration of Honda E-Clutch. This technology automates clutch operation without removing the manual transmission, allowing riders to shift gears without using the clutch lever. This feature is particularly beneficial for new riders, simplifying the riding experience.

The CBR500R retains Honda's recognizable silhouette, with a design inspired by superbikes that can easily be mistaken for a larger-displacement motorcycle, especially in the brand's signature red. Honda has focused on balancing a sporty riding position with comfortable ergonomics for longer journeys. Powering the bike is the familiar 471cc parallel-twin engine, delivering 47 horsepower, which it shares with the NX500.

Key features of the CBR500R include the Honda RoadSync system for smartphone connectivity, enabling navigation, calls, and function control via voice commands, as well as dual front disc brakes with ABS. It is available in two versions: the standard CBR500R priced at 159,900 pesos and the CBR500R E-Clutch at 164,990 pesos.

The Honda NX500 is designed for riders looking to venture off-road without compromising on daily comfort. It features a 19-inch front wheel, enhancing its performance on unpaved roads and uneven surfaces. The NX500 also boasts 180mm of ground clearance and an 830mm seat height. Like the CBR500R, it is equipped with the 471cc, 47 hp twin-cylinder engine and Honda RoadSync, and is offered in both E-Clutch and non-E-Clutch variants. During a test ride on mixed terrain, the NX500 conveyed a sense of confidence, with its suspension and larger front wheel contributing to a stable and reassuring ride.
