Honda CUV e: Electric Scooter's Price Inflated at Dealerships, Reaching Over 71 Million Dong

The Honda CUV e: electric scooter is experiencing a significant price markup at dealerships in Ho Chi Minh City, with the on-the-road price reaching over 71.5 million Vietnamese dong. This price far exceeds the manufacturer's suggested retail price, which is 63.82 million dong with a battery pack and 44.18 million dong without.

The substantial increase is attributed to various taxes and registration fees applicable in Ho Chi Minh City. For vehicles valued over 40 million dong, a registration fee of 2.8 million dong and a 5% registration tax apply. Based on the manufacturer's price, these costs would bring the total to around 68.8 million dong, but the actual dealer price is even higher, reflecting additional dealer markups or bundled accessory costs.

The Honda CUV e: targets the mid-to-high-end segment of the electric scooter market. It features a compact design suitable for urban environments and incorporates modern technology, including three riding modes, a combined braking system (CBS), a smart key, and connectivity to the Honda RoadSync Duo app. The scooter is powered by a 4.2kW nominal and 6kW peak output electric motor, capable of traveling approximately 73km on a full charge using its two removable battery packs, which take about six hours to fully charge.

Looking ahead, Honda is preparing to expand its electric scooter lineup in Vietnam with the upcoming UC3 model. This new model will feature an exposed handlebar design, similar to scooters like the Honda PCX, and a 6kW electric motor. It is expected to offer acceleration comparable to 160cc gasoline engine scooters and reach a top speed of 80km/h.
