Horses and drones aid Czech and German police patrolling Bohemian Switzerland

Czech and German police have joined forces to patrol the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, aiming to bolster security and manage visitor access following a devastating wildfire. The collaboration seeks to ensure public safety and protect the recovering natural landscape.

The initiative involves regular joint patrols along the border, utilizing advanced technology such as drones alongside traditional methods like mounted police on horseback. These measures are intended to deter potential risks and assist visitors navigating the park, which has seen a significant increase in tourism since the fire was extinguished.

Bohemian Switzerland National Park, a popular tourist destination, suffered extensive damage from a wildfire in July 2022. The fire, one of the largest in the park's history, required a massive firefighting effort involving international assistance. Since then, authorities have focused on rehabilitation and controlled reopening to the public.
